Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how FarmerMarket handles personal data when you use our mobile application for Android and iOS, and when you contact us through the FarmerMarket website. It is written to help you understand what we collect, why we collect it, and what choices and rights you have.

1. Who controls your personal data

The controller of your personal data is FarmerMarket sp. z o.o., ul. Aleje Jerozolimskie 109, 02-001 Warszawa, Poland.

2. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the FarmerMarket mobile application made available on Android and iOS, as well as the contact form available on the FarmerMarket website.

FarmerMarket helps customers discover local farmers and helps farmers present their farms and products. During beta, some parts of the app may be accessible without creating an account, and the scope of anonymous access may change as the service evolves.

3. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use FarmerMarket, we may collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Customer account and usage data, such as email address, display name, and current location used to show nearby farmers.
  • Seller data, such as email address, phone number, full name, farm name, and farm address.
  • Authentication and sign-in data received when you sign in with email and password or through Apple, Google, or Facebook.
  • Content you upload or create, such as product photos, farm photos, and descriptions.
  • Website contact form data, including your name, email address, and the content of your message.

4. How we use your data

We use personal data to operate, secure, and improve FarmerMarket, including to:

  • Create and manage user accounts and profiles.
  • Display farmers, farms, and product information inside the app.
  • Show nearby farmers and sort results by distance when you allow location access.
  • Support sign-in, account verification, password reset, and similar service-related communications.
  • Respond to messages sent through the website contact form or by email.
  • Protect the service, investigate misuse, and comply with legal obligations.

6. Location data and app permissions

FarmerMarket uses location while you are actively using the app so you can find nearby farmers and sort results by distance.

  • We do not request background location access.
  • On Android, the app may request location access and network access needed to operate app features.
  • On iOS, the app uses location while the app is in use and supports Sign in with Apple where available.
  • If you do not want to share location data, you can manage permissions in your device settings, although some location-based features may then be limited.

7. Login methods, messaging, and service communications

FarmerMarket currently supports account access by email and password, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, and Facebook Sign-In.

  • When you choose a social login provider, that provider may share certain profile and authentication data with us in accordance with your settings and the provider’s own privacy terms.
  • Communication between customers and sellers is currently handled outside the app. For example, tapping a seller may redirect you to your device messaging application, where communication is then handled by that external service.
  • We currently send verification emails and password reset emails. We do not currently send marketing emails or push notifications through the app.

8. Sharing of data and service providers

We may share personal data with trusted service providers only to the extent needed to operate FarmerMarket. These providers may process data on our behalf under appropriate contractual and security arrangements.

  • Supabase may process personal data to provide backend infrastructure, authentication, database, and storage services.
  • TomTom may process location-related data to support geolocation or location search functionality.
  • Google Maps and Apple Maps may be used to display map or navigation-related information in the app.
  • Apple, Google, and Facebook may process personal data when you use their sign-in services.

9. Payments

FarmerMarket does not currently process payments inside the app.

At this stage, any payment arrangement is handled outside the app directly between the customer and the seller. If we add in-app payments in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

10. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law or justified for security or dispute-resolution reasons.

  • Account and profile data is generally kept while your account remains active.
  • After a valid deletion request, profile data is deleted immediately, subject to any legal, technical, backup, or security limitations that may require temporary retention.
  • Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any reasonable follow-up.
  • We may retain limited information where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, to enforce our terms, or to comply with applicable law.

11. International data transfers

FarmerMarket is currently focused on Poland and is planning broader EU availability. Some of our service providers may process personal data outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we aim to use appropriate safeguards required under applicable law, such as contractual protections or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

12. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal data.
  • The right to request restriction of processing in certain situations.
  • The right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • The right to receive certain personal data in a portable format where applicable.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, including the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland.

13. Children and age-related use

FarmerMarket is intended for a general audience aged 16 and older. It is not intended for young children. If you believe that personal data has been provided to us in violation of applicable age requirements, please contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. When we do, we will publish the updated version on this page and update the effective date shown above.
